helpyouboat is wholly owned by helpyouboat LLC. We do not accept payment, free product, or trips in exchange for coverage or favorable reviews. Affiliate commissions never influence which products we recommend or how we rank them.

Sourcing & expertise

Every article is written by a working captain, marine technician, sailing instructor, or qualified subject expert. Technical claims (mechanical, electrical, regulatory) are reviewed by Marina Chen, ABYC Master Technician and SAMS-accredited surveyor, before publish.

Hands-on testing

Buying guides are based on on-water testing of every recommended product. See our testing methodology. We never recommend a product we haven't physically used or that hasn't been used by a vetted contributor.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to help with research summarization, draft outlines, and grammar checks. Every published word is written, edited, and signed off by a named human author. We never publish AI-generated photos as real test photos.

Updates & corrections

Articles are reviewed at least once a year. The "Updated" date in each byline reflects the most recent material edit. If we get something wrong, email corrections@helpyouboat.com — we publish corrections at the bottom of the affected article.
